Newpark Comprehensive 26 St Fintan’s High School 19

Leinster Clubs David Murphy was the hero as Newpark Comprehensive upset St Fintan’s High School in the Bank of Ireland Vinnie Murray Senior Cup at Donnybrook yesterday.

The Comp’ needed a good start to build confidence and they got just that when Murphy broke two tackles on his way in for a try converted by Oliver Perrem in the third minute.

The Sutton school hit back with a try from flanker Aidan O’Kane before the break and then led thanks to seven points from centre Niall O’Halloran’s try and Conor Hickey’s conversion.

However, Murphy plundered two tries from close range, both converted by Perrem for 21-12 in the 54th minute.

An exciting climax was guaranteed when Oisin Heaney touched down and Hickey added the extras.

Newpark kept their best for last, moving the ball down the left where Matthew Jungmann sent wing Patrick Gilceava away for the clinching try in the 64th minute.
