North Kildare RFC is delighted to announce their newest team to the club the Skylarks Adapted Tag Rugby Team.
This will now see 20 inclusion rugby teams across the province of Leinster, giving more opportunity for children with additional needs to play the game of rugby.
The Skylarks Tag team is open to anyone with mixed ability needs, aged 5-14 years old.
North Kildare RFC has worked with the IRFU, Leinster Branch and Kildare Sports Partnership to get this team up and running.
The club have 14 committed and trained coaches who were ready to start training last April 2020, but unfortunately this was put on hold.
The club are running a taster evening on Thursday 24 June from 7pm-8pm for anyone who is interested and would like to give it a try.
North Kildare RFC are delighted to announce that Will Connors, former North Kildare player and one of Leinster and Ireland’s rugby stars, will be an Ambassador to the team.
Sinead Griffin, Junior Chair North Kildare RFC said, “It is lovely for the children throughout the club to see a local North Kildare player move up through the ranks and play for Ireland. He is always very supportive of both North Kildare RFC and the Skylarks. On a personal note, I think this is an amazing venture in the club, as I see that sport is open to all and will be delighted when this is up and running.”
