Three players have been nominated for the Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Player of the Month for October 2020.

Across the month, the province secured maximum points from their opening three Guinness PRO14 games of the 2020/21 season.

Starting at home to Dragons with a 35-5 win, a hard-fought victory in Treviso followed before facing further Italian opposition, Zebre, in Round 3.

Michael Bent

Tighthead Michael Bent has been a fixture in Leo Cullen’s starting team so far this season, turning in some excellent performances.

In attack and defence, Bent has been a thorn in the side of opposition teams, dismantling set-pieces and picking up some points for his personal tally along the way.

Luke McGrath

Luke McGrath impressed throughout October with a string of commanding performances in the number nine shirt.

Introduced from the bench in the opening two games, McGrath’s arrival on the pitch in Treviso was the catalyst for Leinster to push on and clinch the bonus point.

Starting alongside Harry Byrne against Zebre, he looks to have already built a good understanding with the young out-half.

Rhys Ruddock

Taking on the role of captain in Johnny Sexton’s absence, Rhys Ruddock has led the team admirably.

At times over the course of October, it appeared that the No 8 was everywhere, popping up to clean up in the backfield, strong carries on the wings, and his usual attritional self at the breakdown.
