The Ireland defeated Argentina at the World Rugby Under-20 Championship with a last-gasp penalty from Tomás Quinlan.
Joey Carbery kicked five penalties for Ireland in the 18-16 win over Argentina, with Quinlan stepping up to take the crucial winning kick as the clock turned red.
Argentina’s Santiago Portillo crossed for the game’s only try.
Ireland will now go on to face Scotland (KO 3.30pm – Irish time) in their second pool match of the tournament on Saturday before taking on New Zealand next Wednesday (KO 7.30pm – Irish time).
In the other match in Ireland’s pool, New Zealand claimed a try bonus point in a convincing 68-10 win over Scotland.
The winner of each pool will qualify for the tournament semi-finals, with the best runner-up from the three pools qualifying as the fourth seed.
