Leinster’s final pre-season game against Ulster may have ended in defeat, but with the new season kicking off this Saturday against Glasgow Warriors in Scotstoun (KO 5.15pm, Live SKY Sports), this bruising encounter was the perfect preparation.
Academy player Bryan Byrne bagged Leinster’s only try of the game, with Ian Madigan slotting over a superb conversion, but Ian Humphreys’s first half penalty proved to be decisive as Ulster won 10-7.
Leinster’s first home game of the new campaign takes place against Scarlets in the RDS on 13 September at 2.40pm.
