Rugby fans heading to the RDS this Friday for the Connacht match in the Guinness PRO12 (Kick Off: 7.35pm) are being encouraged to buy a blue LauraLynn Santa hat inside the grounds and to support LauraLynn.
The hats will be on sale for €;5 with all proceeds going directly to LauraLynn, Ireland’s only Children’s Hospice.
LauraLynn are a charity partner to Leinter Rugby for the coming season and Kane Douglas, Richardt Strauss and James Tracy visited LauraLynn last week and took time out to paint and talk to the children. Richardt described it as an eye opening experience saying “I am really very impressed with what’s going on in LauraLynn, particularly the good work the staff do for the families and kids that need all the help they can get.
“People often look past things so if the Leinster brand can bring some awareness to LauraLynn this Friday, then we are delighted to be involved. Hopefully it will be a bit chilly on Friday and people will pick up a Blue LauraLynn Santa Hat on the way into the match”.
Speaking about the partnership with Leinster Rugby, Jane Flynn, Head of Marketing, LauraLynn said, “With no direct Government funding for our Hospice Services, we need to raise in excess of €;2 million every year. It is fundraising events such as the match this Friday with Leinster that enable us to keep the doors of our hospice open.
“All money raised from the sale of our Blue LauraLynn Santa Hats on Friday will go towards our LauraLynn@HOME programme, which started in June on a pilot basis, bringing children’s hospice care into the comfort of the family home in two Leinster regions. The hope for 2015 is to bring LauraLynn@HOME nationwide so all families can avail of it regardless of where they live in Ireland.”
The game against Connacht in the RDS this Friday kick off at 7.35pm with gates open from 6.05pm and those attending are asked to support LauraLynn as much as they can either by buying a blue Santa hat inside the grounds from LauraLynn volunteers or by texting LAURALYNN to 50300 to donate €;4.
Leinster Rugby are not supporting any other blue Santa hat promotion on match day and would encourage supporters to only purchase from LauraLynn volunteers.
