PortDara Rugby Club are seeking an experienced coach who can further develop the skills of an ambitious senior women’s team. The PortDara Falcons field in Leinster Division 1 and the club also has a strong underage system with teams at U-14, U-16 and U-18.
The successful applicant should bring a proven and experienced record in playing and/or rugby coaching, coupled with a positive approach that encourages players and optimizes the performance of the squad. A focus on building team culture is a must.
The head coach will be responsible for designing and implementing a training programme, proactive in the recruitment and retention of players, and serve as a leader, committed to developing player skills and building a successful team. The successful applicant must also be invested in the club pathway and help develop a style of play that can be emulated at U-18, U-16 and U-14.
The head coach’s expenses will be covered.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be IRFU Certified or must attend an IRFU appropriate course before the role commences
- All coaches must complete a new Garda Vetting process
Responsibilities
- Available for training on two evenings per week, one night in Portarlington and one night in Cill Dara
- Available for matches on a Sunday
- Develop and encourage a positive culture
- Conduct regular reviews with Director of Rugby and the committee
- Ensure that the culture and behaviours displayed by all are in line with the club’s ethos and expected behaviours
