Bunscoil Bhride is a sixteen teacher all girls primary school located in the village of Rathangan, Co. Kildare…

There are three hundred and twenty pupils attending the school from junior infants to sixth class. This year Edenderry CCRO Mr Patsy Gorman attended the all girls’ school and took 4th, 5th and 6th class girls for tag rugby.

Principal, Maria Rogerson was very supportive of the tag rugby program and allowed access during school time for the girls to take part. Teachers Ms O Meara, Ms Geary and Ms Ruttledge took part with their classes in the coaching and playing of the games, which proved enjoyable for the pupils.

In total 87 girls between the ages of nine and twelve years took part in tag rugby which was the first time the school have done tag rugby. Each week the girls improved their core rugby skills while also gaining exercise in a fun environment with rugby style games. At the end of the program these girls were rewarded with some Leinster goodies to mark the achievement they reached.
