Leinster Rugby forward Scott Fardy recently announced that he would be hanging up the boots at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
During the final game of the campaign, against Dragons on June 11, Fardy and fellow retiring teammate Michael Bent received a standing ovation from the 1200 fans in attendance.
Since then, the Australian caught up with Leinster Rugby TV to look back on a glittering career which included playing on three continents and 29 international caps.
“I’m very happy. I came to the decision a long time ago. I’m grateful for the career I’ve had, honoured to represent so many great teams and play with great players. I’m ready now for the next things in my life,” he explains.
“My family and I have met so many wonderful people here in Ireland, and have wonderful memories. In the last few months, I’ve been stopped by people in the street saying such nice things to me. I’m not sure how much it’s deserved!
“We’ll certainly miss it here.”
