Leinster Rugby ‘A’ suffered a 34-25 defeat at the hands of Munster Rugby ‘A’ in an interprovincial friendly at Thomond Park this evening.

Noel McNamara’s side led at the interval but a strong second half from the hosts saw them to victory.

Munster held the advantage for much of the opening half with tries from Thomas Ahern and Darren Sweetnam cancelling out an effort from Andrew Smith.

However, Alex Soroka crashed over from the back of a maul to close the gap before Cormac Foley edged Leinster in front.

The scrum half was the fastest chaser of his own kick and capitalised smartly on a handling error in the Munster backline.

After the break, Leinster could muster only a David Hawkshaw penalty while a Liam Coombes intercept try and another effort from Diarmuid Barron helped Munster to the finish line.
