The 2020 Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby School of Excellence was launched at The King’s Hospital School today, with over 600 places already sold for this summer.

The School of Excellence is one of the most successful rugby camps in Ireland with 11,590 boys and girls attending over the past 22 years.

The camp gives those aged 12-17 the opportunity to live and train like a professional player for a week at The King’s Hospital.

Leinster players Rob Kearney, Ross Molony, Ciarán Frawley, Judy Bobbett and Daisy Earle were present this morning for the launch.

Many of the province’s stars including Kearney, Frawley, Bobbett, Earle and Tadhg Furlong all attended the School of Excellence on the way to representing Leinster Rugby.

“I completed the School of Excellence camp back in 2013,” Frawley said.

“It’s a great opportunity for young players to live like a pro and experience how Leinster Rugby players train and prepare to perform every day.”

The Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby School of Excellence is aimed at developing players and fine-tuning their skills. The content of the camp has been developed to reflect the modern game and as a result has become the highlight of the summer calendar for many young players as they will gain a greater understanding of the game and learn about values such as teamwork, commitment, integrity and communication.

Speaking at the launch, Bank of Ireland’s Rory Carty said: “The growth in participation numbers of children taking part in the Leinster School of Excellence each year is a sure sign that the coaches and mentors involved with the programme are instilling the right habits in the boys and girls attending.

“Now in its 23rd year the Leinster School of Excellence is a proven breeding ground for the stars of the future, the proof of which can be seen with the ongoing success of the Leinster Rugby youth structures in developing both provincial and international rugby stars. Bank of Ireland is proud to sponsor Leinster Rugby, and the School of Excellence provides the perfect platform for boys and girls alike to begin charting their roads to rugby success.”
