Leinster Rugby and Syracuse University are excited to announce a new partnership that will bring elite rugby coaching and development to Syracuse University.
Leinster Rugby, compete in the BKT United Rugby Championship, the Heineken Champions Cup and the Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championships and is one of the most successful rugby clubs in the world.
Leinster Rugby and Syracuse University are now partnering to bring Leinster’s very popular School of Excellence to the University’s campus in Syracuse, New York.
The camp will be open to boys and girls, aged 13 – 17, and will offer residential and non-residential options. Resident campers will live and dine on campus and will have the chance to train like professional athletes in the University’s amazing athletics facilities, while benefiting from Leinster’s rich coaching culture.
Summer 2023 Dates
July 31 – August 4 for both residential and non-residential camps.

The School of Excellence will be located at Hookway Fields at Syracuse University, which are located adjacent to the Syracuse University Lally Athletic Complex and Syracuse University South Campus, situated off of Comstock Avenue on East Colvin Street, Syracuse, NY 13210.

What is the Leinster Rugby School of Excellence at Syracuse University?
Leinster Rugby, compete in the BKT United Rugby Championship, the Heineken Champions Cup and the Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championships and is one of the most successful rugby clubs in the world, with Leinster players not only representing Ireland and other nations at international level, but also the British & Irish Lions.
As well as facilitating the senior men’s and women’s teams, Leinster Rugby as an organisation is also charged with the administration and organisation of the game of rugby in the 12 counties of Leinster, including player and coach education programmes, club and school competitions and camps for boys and girls at all ages and levels.
The School of Excellence is one such camp that has been running for over 25 years, with over 1,200 boys and girls taking part every summer.
It aims to develop smart and skilful rugby players and inspire the mindset and training habits that will help them achieve their full potential, at whatever level they choose to pursue the game.
In the summer of 2023, Leinster Rugby will offer its highly successful School of Excellence camp at Syracuse University, its first ever such camp in the United States.
The School of Excellence at Syracuse University will provide aspiring rugby athletes, aged 13 – 17 (girls and boys) with a comprehensive rugby training and educational programme that simulates a week in the life of a professional rugby player.
Campers will learn to play the Leinster way, as they gain a greater understanding of the game and learn about teamwork, commitment, and communication.
Campers should expect a structured rugby development programme, emphasising skill development, game understanding, activity, and enjoyment.
The campers will develop core rugby skills and learn to perform them under challenging conditions through coaching in a professional environment. Clinics, video analysis, nutritional information and mental preparation are all key ingredients in the School of Excellence program.
Terms and Conditions
Applications will only be accepted upon receipt of course deposit of $100. Payment is regarded as acceptance of the conditions of enrolment as outlined below.
Booking confirmations will be made via email. Early bird pricing applies until March 31, 2023.
Leinster Rugby and Syracuse University have the right to refuse any admission, or to dismiss at any time during the camp, any participant whose presence by way of conduct is deemed by the Camp Manager to be detrimental to the best interests of the camp or its other participants. In such instances, no refunds will be made, and any additional costs involved, including transportation, will be at the parent’s/guardian’s expense.
The camp will operate on the highest safety standards. Leinster Rugby and Syracuse University shall not be responsible for any illness, disease, accident, travel delays or loss of property unless occasioned by the wilful act of negligence on the part of the camp or its employees.
Campers who have particular health requirements (e.g., allergies, daily medications) must notify the camp of same in writing following booking confirmation. Any injuries incurred on the camp will be at the cost of the parent/guardian, not Leinster Rugby or Syracuse University.
All personal belongings are the responsibility of each participant and Leinster Rugby and Syracuse University will not be responsible for the loss or replacement of any misplaced belongings.
Photographs and video may be taken over the duration of the camps and will be used only for promotional purposes.
Cancellations
In the event of cancellation, the $100 deposit (plus booking fee) will not be refunded. Cancellations, for whatever reason, must be made in writing.
In the event of cancellation within 14 days or less, you will be responsible for 50% of the cost of the entire booking, cancellation made within 72 hours prior to the commencement of the camp will be responsible for the entire cost of the booking. People failing to arrive without prior notification are responsible for the entire cost of the booking. No refunds will be made once the camp has commenced. The summer camp will be a week-long, rugby focused, skills and development training camp designed to accommodate all rugby age grade players.
The camp is open to girls and boys aged 13 to 17 years of age with programmes designed for players from beginners to aspiring professional players.
