Another October, another programme of tag rugby completed in primary schools in and around the Ballymun, Finglas and Glasnevin region…

Schools in the area were treated to a new face providing the coaching in Eoin Smyth, who is working with Leinster Rugby in the north of the city.

All the schools have completed the tag rugby programme and will be taking part in a blitz the week after Halloween. Some of the schools that partook were St Josephs, Our lady of Victories Girls, Virgin Mary Boys, Mother of Divine Grace and St Vincent’s.

The secondary schools in the area also got in on the act with St Kevin’s and St Vincent’s completing first year contact programmes. The blocks of coaching have been used as a lead in to the school teams that will compete in the Inaugural DCC Cup. The numbers that the schools have gotten to their team training is a sure indication that the rugby bug has certainly bit in the region.
