Westmanstown was the venue last weekend for the Metropolitan Junior Sevens which was challenged by CYM, Seapoint, Stillorgan, Malahide and Unidare…

There was a display of fast running and enthusiastic rugby demonstrated by the teams involved. The Seven’s concept is to get the clubs focused on the oncoming season, back with ball in hand, training and competing. Competition is what we got and full credit to all the players for their efforts.

Due to early season tours we had a depleted turnout but did not prevent a splendid afternoon of rugby highlighted by an exciting final where Malahide met Seapoint.

Malahide, captained by Rory O’Driscoll, were beaten 22-7 by a youthful Seapoint led by Brian Guerin.

The Metropolitan committee would like to extend their thanks to the Leinster Branch for their support, the A.R.L.B. for the team of referees and once again to Garda R.F.C for the use of their fine facilities.
