Leinster Rugby have confirmed, in line with current government guidelines, that supporter numbers at the first United Rugby Championship game against the Vodacom Bulls will be set at 75 per cent of Aviva Stadium’s capacity.
The Vodacom Bulls will be the first South African club team to play in Aviva Stadium under the new United Rugby Championship format with the game kicking off at 5.15pm on Saturday, 25 September. They are the reigning back-to-back Currie Cup champions.
This announcement comes off the back of the last few months where supporter numbers have been gradually increasing in line with the guidelines in place.
Kevin Quinn, Head of Commercial and Marketing in Leinster Rugby, said, “This is huge progress for the club and we very much look forward to welcoming supporters back to Aviva Stadium on Saturday week for the first URC game of the new season.
“It’s been a long time coming but we have worked tirelessly with the various government departments and agencies, Aviva Stadium, the IRFU and all our stakeholders and partners to ensure that we kept building towards a day like today and this announcement.
“There will be some changes and challenges to the match-day experience but we feel that it’s the right time, within the guidelines, to look towards a safe and responsible return of crowds in a Covid-compliant manner.
“There will be an onus on the ticket holder to comply with the stadium policies, to wear their masks and to follow the guidelines, but that is the model that we are moving towards as a society from the end of October onwards, and we are confident that Leinster Rugby supporters and indeed any Bulls supporters will respect that.”
As per government guidelines, 75 per cent attendance is now possible for the game against the Vodacom Bulls where all adult supporters are vaccinated or immune*. It is the personal responsibility of all supporters to ensure they adhere to Government guidelines and adult supporters should note that proof of vaccination or recovery may be requested before entry.
A pre-sale window, exclusive to Leinster Rugby season ticket holders, opens tomorrow morning, Thursday, at 10am, where there will be a number of special offers available, while general sales will start from 10am on Friday morning.
Further information on ticketing and information regarding the game will be sent to season ticket holders ahead of the pre-sale tomorrow morning and supporters should also keep an eye on leinsterrugby.ie for further updates on ticketing and sales information.
*An Immune supporter is a person designated by government as fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 within previous six months or accompanied minors (U-18).
