Johnny Sexton and Tadhg Furlong were both involved as the Lions recorded a victory in their opening tour match against the New Zealand Provincial Barbarians on Saturday.
Sexton started the match and kicked a penalty in the 16th-minute to give the Lions the lead.
The Provincial Barbarians scored the game’s first try through Sam Anderson-Heather, converted by Bryn Gatland – son of Lions head coach Warren Gatland – to give them the lead at the break.
Sexton was replaced by Owen Farrell early in the second half, and soon after Tadhg Furlong made his first appearance in a Lions jersey when he came on as a 51st-minute replacement for Harlequins’ Kyle Sinckler.
The Lions went on to win the game 13-7 with a 53rd-minute try from Bath Rugby’s Anthony Watson, converted by Farrell.
The next game of the tour comes on Wednesday against the Auckland Blues at Eden Park (KO 8.35am Irish time).
