The large Shortall family are huge Leinster supporters and have been chosen as the latest Philips Family of the month…

Their youngest Leinster supporter, Fionn, was born in August 2008 and is the lucky mascot for Leinster. He has been to some of the Leinster home matches with his dad, Martin, mum Fiona and sisters – Eimear (7) and Anna (4) who have a family season ticket.

His dad and sisters have been to every home match and his dad has travelled to as many of the away games as he could- including the matches against Harlequins, Edinburgh, Leicester and Munster.

A huge crowd of the family went to Croke Park to cheer the team on in the semi final, including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. What a great day! Fionn watched the Heineken Cup Final at home with his mum and sisters, while his dad, grandfather and uncles were cheering loudly at the match in Murrayfield.

When his very hoarse dad came home, the whole family went into the homecoming in the RDS, and have even had the chance to get their photo taken with the Heineken Cup. Fionn was the perfect size to fit in the Heineken cup and loved every minute in it.

We also think that Fionn has been the lucky mascot for Irish rugby. We were lucky enough to get a photo of him holding the Triple Crown when the Irish team came home in March this year.

The Shortalls have been behind Leinster so far this season, and here’s hoping lucky charm Fionn can inspire the team to continued success…

The Philips Family of the month will be back in the New Year. In the meantime, the Philips Family of the Year will be revealed in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the website for more details…
