Skerries Rugby Club features in a new episode of the Sport Matters series on Setanta Ireland on Tuesday, March 31st at 10pm…
The episode entitled Hometown asks if Ireland’s recent Six Nations Grand Slam victory will have a positive effect on rugby at all levels in Ireland and considers the role of the clubs and schools in developing Ireland’s future rugby stars.
Hometown begins with a short film entitled Local Heroes that looks at the set up at Skerries rugby club and features interviews with club members.
Daire will be joined by a number of guests including the likes of Denis Hickie and Donal Lenihan.
The Sport Matters series examines the nation’s obsession with sport and explores the social, political and economic forces that are shaping and defining sport in the 21st century. It is funded through the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland Sound and Vision Fund and is broadcast in Freeview. Subtitles are available for the series
