The South Dublin Junior Cup Final was played recently in Donnybrook – a Development Cup which aims to help the development of schools who are not traditionally rugby playing schools…

It is open to all schools in the South Dublin Area and is run by Niall Neville the Leinster and South Dublin County Council Community Rugby Officer.

Six teams had started out in the group stages to contest this cup but in the end it was St. Colmcilles of Knocklyon and Rathcoole Community College who took the pitch to see who would claim the title on the day. In an excellent display of heart, passion and skill both teams set off at a ferocious pace.

There was some excellent rugby on display to wet the appetites of the large crowd that turned up to support.

On the day it was St. Colmcilles who took the spoils with a hard earned win over Rathcoole C.C. The competition has proved to have been a great success this year and will be looking to continue and expand in the years to come.
