Over 100 pupils from St Francis Xavier Senior National School recently take part in a tag rugby blitz at Coolmine Rugby Club…

The weather held off and allowed the 5th and 6th class students to compete in up to five Tag rugby matches each. They competed against their fellow classmates and enjoyed the wonderful facilities at Coolmine RFC.

St Francis had previously completed the IRFU ‘Play Rugby’ Programme with Leinster CRO Amanda Ní Ghabhann and took to the pitches to display their new skills and abilities in the game of Rugby.

The day was a wonderful success, thanks to the encouragement and help of the teachers and principal of St Francis Xavier and the children brought massive amounts of enthusiasm to the game. The talent spoke for itself and there is certainly much potential for both men’s and women’s rugby in the future.

If your school wishes to take part in the IRFU ‘Play Rugby’ Programme please contact your local Community Rugby Officer and for Fingal County based schools please contact Community Rugby Officer Christian Stemmet on 087-9118642 or e-mail christian.stemmet@leinsterrugby.ie
