The third class students of St Francis Xavier Primary School in Roselawn, took part in a four week ‘Play Rugby’ programme just before Christmas…

Over 120 children and four teachers learned new skills and enjoyed Tag rugby matches throughout the programme.

Principal at St Francis, TP Parker was very supportive as the children took part in a new sport, encouraging fun and participation, at all times.

On completion of the Play Rugby programme the school received a pack inlcuding rugby balls, training cones and bibs so they can continue to practice in the future. Third class teacher Marie Reidy said: “The programme gave her fresh ideas to use during P.E with her class and she looks forward to using the new equipment “.

Staff and students at the school will continue to practice Tag rugby and hope to participate in a local rugby blitz in the coming months.
