Mary’s Michelle O’Sullivan has won January’s PRO of the month for her ongoing hard work in relation to the promotion of the women’s game around the province…

O’Sullivan, who was roped onto the Leinster Branch Women’s Committee two seasons ago, took on the stand alone voluntary role as the Leinster Women’s PRO. Michelle was in charge of the ongoing promotion of the women’s game around the province which included everything from writing match reports for the Leinster Rugby domestic website to chasing Club PRO’s for final scores of matches to update the @LeinsterWomen twitter account.

As PR is expanding in every area of the domestic game including the women’s game, Michelle has created a superb sub-committee of highly motivated and engaged women interested in highlighting all the good work being done at club level. Aileen Fallon (Women’s PRO Committee, Minis, Youths & Division 3 coordinator), Marta Harper (Previously of Railway Union & Twitter coordinator), Rachel O’Brien (Communications Officer, Carlow FC + Facebook & Division 2 Coordinator), Ciara Metcalfe (Leinster Player profiles & Division 1 coordinator), and Inga Byrne (Leinster Website & Division 4 coordinator) sit on the Women’s PR Sub-Committee of which Michelle manages the streamlining of all content.

Michelle ensures to promote the women’s game at every forum available i.e. Leinster home match programmes, The Irish Independent, social media channels, Leinster Rugby website etc. The January PRO of the Month added ‘I’m really happy with how efficiently the women’s PR sub-committee is functioning. We’re guaranteeing weekly coverage across all of Leinster’s forums on a weekly basis which enables us to push the messaging in relation to the women’s game. We want to promote as many Leinster Women’s Clubs around the province as possible. One additional weekly promotion that is working really well is our action photo of the week. Teams from around the country are really engaging with us on it which is superb to see. One of our biggest success stories to date is how well the promotion of the youths girls rugby has gone and the increased numbers we’re seeing makes it all worthwhile’.

The PRO added ‘With Donnelly Fruit and Veg being the main sponsor of the Leinster Women’s senior team, we’re looking at how we can continue to support the coverage of all the Interprovincial matches as well as linking in with the new domestic sponsor, Bank of Ireland in relation to our Leinster league and cup finals which will be held in February and April’.
