De La Salle Palmerston FC are saddened to announce the death of club stalwart Stevie Harte, who passed away on Thursday morning…

A past pupil of De La Salle College Churchtown, Stevie was a legendary figure, during the 1970’s and 80’s with Palmerston FC, who played with great distinction at all levels for his beloved club. During this time he also played for Leinster.

His playing career was hugely curtailed, after a nasty broken ankle injury, in the late 1970’s. However in 1985 when Palmerston and De La Salle merged, he played on the first De La Salle Palmerston J2 team, which went on to win the league that year.

He was a hugely popular and charismatic figure in Leinster (and indeed Irish Club Rugby), who had many friends throughout the game.

His warm personality and welcoming smile, made sure that people remembered him, both on and off pitch, making one of the true characters of the game.

Funeral arrangements are Glasnevin Crematorium this Monday, 13th September at 2pm and then back to the club house at Kirwan Park.
