On a lovely sunny September day over 120 girls from the South East came together to play the season opening South East blitz in Costa del Wexford…
They were blessed with a lovely day which brought out a sizeable crowd which along with the BBQ and Debbie Carty’s merry band of volunteers lent the occasion a wonderful festival feeling. The air was buzzing with anticipation and excitement as the girls prepared for their start of season matches after weeks of preseason training.
The rugby started with Leinster U18’s coach taking a lineout clinic and then it was into the round robin competition where Gorey, Greystones, New Ross, Tullow, Wexford and Wicklow battled it out.
The matches were all played in a good competitive spirit and the result was in doubt right until the final matches.
The Tullow U15’s won their section with the Wicklow U15’s team filing the runners up spot. The Wicklow U18’s took the honours in the senior event with the newly formed Tigers team (Gorey,Greystones,Tullow) coming a close second.
