Ulster Bank League Division 3 comes to a close for Suttonians RFC this Saturday with a match against 6th placed Rainey Old Boys at JJ McDowell Memorial Grounds… and Suttonians are out to celebrate our beautiful game with a Festival of Rugby!

Off the field, the day will start off with our customary Pre-Match Lunch hosted by President Brian Mateer with our highly commended food provided by club sponsor Sand Bar, Clontarf. Lunch kicks off at 12.30pm and over 80 mouths will be filled before the on field action starts up.

Suttonians is a community centred, family club and we have lots for the kids, including bouncy castles, face painting and a bbq running all day. MY Suttonians (our Minis and Youths section) members will take centre stage before the First XV game as they will be the match day mascots leading our boys out to battle for their 2.30pm kick off. We haven’t beaten Rainey Old Boys to date so it promises to be a good one trying to change that record.

At 3pm on the second pitch, our U21’s take on Skerries in the Laverty Cup. Aidan Kearney’s men have not had the rub of the green this season, but, with a healthy home support behind them, the U21’s will be ready to party!

The club is going to update the records with a group photo of all SRFC members… The largest photo recorded so far has just 59 members. This is for all players, coaches of the entire club – Senior and MY SRFC…

At 4.45pm, the Cow Pat Challenge kicks off as a fully laden Daisy takes to the pitch to get it all nice a ready for the J3 Sharks game against Malahide at 5.30pm. The Sharks arrived back from Madrid last weekend where they worked on tactics for this weekend’s game

At 5.45pm, the Caughoo’s (SRFC’s Veterans side) take on Malahide in the Annual Martin McEvoy Cup. The Caughoos have had another great season under the Captaincy of Steve O’Grady, taking on several teams much their juniors. With so many people coming down to the club this weekend, the Caughoos have decided to use their bus passes to avoid congestion in the car park!

There’ll be live music all day in the clubhouse which will be topped off with Leinster V Ulster live on the 5 big screens and later still, the Karaoke where you can show everyone exactly why you didn’t make it past the application stage of the X Factor.

Rugby is the real winner in Suttonians this Saturday 16th, Don’t miss out!
