Swords Rugby Club has launched a novel fundraising and advertising initiative by raffling off the sponsorship of one of its teams…

The club is offering one lucky company the chance to win sponsorship of its under-19s team for the season and with it a host of promotional benefits.

‘We launched our 2009 Sponsors Draw this week, which is open to all businesses in the area,’ Swords RFC’s organiser Leo Price said.

‘Tickets for the draw are €;50 and a maximum of 100 tickets will be sold. The draw will be made on December 13th and the first ticket drawn will win sponsorship for the 2009-10 season.’

The winning company will have their logo printed on the front of the club jersey and have an advertising hoarding provided around the perimeter of the club pitch at ALSAA.

They will also win two tickets to one of Ireland’s upcoming Six Nations matches, as well as a prominent link on the club website and can look forward to local and regional exposure.

Second prize is a signed Leinster jersey while third prize is a pair of Six Nations stand tickets to the Ireland v Italy game and all entrants will receive a link from the club website to their own site, as a mark of recognition and appreciation for their support.

Originally Aer Lingus RFC and then ALSAA RFC, Swords RFC has been in existence for over 60 years, based at the ALSAA sports complex.

Since 2004, it has been steadily developing its youth sector, employing its own youth development officer in the local schools and investing heavily in young players.

A community club, they currently field teams at men’s first, second and over-35 level, and youth teams from under-19s right down to a nursery, for four to seven-year-olds.

‘It’s a great chance for a local business to attain free advertising and publicity, while helping out a community club,’ Price continued.

‘The under-19s are in action every Saturday and their home matches are played at ALSAA, a pitch which is regularly by numerous teams.

‘Our club website attracts hundreds of hits daily, while our match reports and news are printed on a weekly basis in various publications.’
