Hookers Positional Practical Workshop on Throwing for club and school coaches
February 22, 2018 11:25 am Lisa Doyle
Leinster Rugby will be hosting a Hookers Positional Practical Workshop on throwing in the lineout, next Tuesday, 27th February, at Leinster Rugby HQ.
One nominated coach will be required from your club or school that has a keen interest and passion in learning the techniques and exercises required to enhance your players’ positional skillset.
The hope is that this coach would become the throwing coach in their own club or school with all age grades and assist with the development of both coaches and players in this area.
On the night of the workshop, this coach will be upskilled on key principles of a consistent set up for throwing, stance with feet, grip and specific exercises to develop the players’ core and power as well as accuracy with the chest and arms.
We have four specialist coaches on the night to assist with delivering on this crucial area for development.
Former Heineken Cup-winning hooker and current Leinster Rugby coach scrum John Fogarty will be in attendance, as will Leinster Academy Manager Peter Smyth. Adrian Flavin and Philip Horan, who both have first-hand experience in this area as both players and coaches, and are currently coaching across all stages of our player pathway, from the ground up to the professional team.
