Speaking to the media ahead of this Friday’s game against Connacht, Devin Toner has said that he’s looking forward to getting back to the RDS over Christmas.
The festive period will see Leinster face Connacht on 19 December in the RDS Arena (KO 7.35pm), Munster in Thomond Park on St Stephen’s Day (KO 5pm) and Ulster in the RDS on 3 January (KO 2.40pm).
Speaking to the media in Leinster HQ this week, Toner spoke about the buzz around Christmas games and how much he enjoys playing at this time of year.
“I’ve always enjoyed the Christmas games, there’s always a really good buzz around the place, all the fans are quite jovial. I’m looking forward to it.
“From a personal point of view, I always love getting back to the RDS. I think the fans are great, I think there’s a great atmosphere. We want to make it a tough place to go, so hopefully it is.
“The fans have been huge for us; they’ve been absolutely brilliant in the RDS and the Aviva. I suppose they’ve gotten used to us winning a lot and by a lot of points, so it’s hard to live up to, but we’ll do our best coming into these couple of games.”
Looking ahead to the big interpro derby against Connacht on Friday night, Toner said that dealing with the threats Connacht have throughout their team will be key to securing a win.
“Much like that game in Galway they’re going to be very tough to break down, the set piece is going to be hugely important and we’re going to have to negate their threats. They’ve got a really good back line and really good young players coming through.”
