Leinster Rugby are delighted to announce that Tullamore RFC’s Martina Cahill has been named the Evening Herald Volunteer of the Month for December…

Martina became involved when her son joined as an Under-8 ten years ago and has hardly missed a match since.

Being there on a regular basis she and her husband, Gerry (pictured) were persuaded to become involved on the management side of the team and Martina is now the person who collects membership, registrations, team-sheets and all other paperwork.

On match days she is busy on the line with first aid and water and is “Mammy” to the current Under-19s. She also took on the job of washing jerseys to cut costs and does a better job!

Martina is a great supporter of the club and regularly will support more than one team per day. On Saturday 19th November she was with her Under-19s at 2pm at home to Naas and then turned up that evening in Coolmine to support the 1st team.

She also gets involved in fundraising events in the club and is involved in running the monthly Youths Disco which is a major source of revenue for the club.

Her ever pleasant manner makes her a joy to work with.
