Leinster Rugby recently hosted a webinar on the use of themes in rugby coaching. The webinar was aimed at youth, senior, performance, club, school and team coaches.
The use of themes in rugby union coaching has increased in popularity over recent years.
But what exactly is theming? How is it practically applied? What works well? What has not worked well? What skills are required by the coach to successfully utilise the concept of theming within our coaching practice? All these questions and more were discussed in the Webinar by our experienced and diverse panel.
The panel consisted of Jess Bunyard (Head coach of women’s and girls’ rugby at Huddersfield RUFC and Editor of Women’s Rugby Coaching Magazine), Eoin Sheriff (Leinster Rugby Coach Development Officer), Declan O’Brien (Leinster Rugby Head of Coach and Player Development) and Kieran Hallett (Leinster Rugby Elite Player Development Officer).
