Wicklow RFC minis hosted Gorey RFC Minis last weekend with both clubs fielding strong teams at every level…

There were lots of evenly contested matches played in glorious sunshine and rugby was the winner on the day. Parents got to see the skills the players have been working hard on this season.

Wicklow Girls also played host to Gorey and played a four team round robin. It was decided to play Tag rugby as Gorey have only recently started playing contact. Great rugby, good fun and great results all round. The girls are learning and improving their rugby skills every week taking on all the advice and coaching the coaches are imparting on them. Well done to all.

Thanks to Gorey for bringing their kids up to Wicklow with special thanks going to all the coaches, refs and the army of parents for bringing refreshments and helping out on the day. Mini blitzes cannot happen without the huge support from everyone involved.

There are now over 400 children playing rugby for Wicklow RFC every week. The Minis section look after the members aged 12 and down. Wicklow’s aim is to allow all children play a safe, fun and skilled game through a mix of matches and coaching.

If anyone is interested in joining or trying rugby in Wicklow, get in touch by emailing info@WicklowRFC.com or drop down to the club in Ashtown Lane, Wicklow any Saturday morning when all Mini teams are training and witness the fun for yourself.
